Whether athletics runs through your veins, or you are brand new to fitness, taking your first group class can seem intimidating. From the outside looking in, everyone looks very comfortable using the equipment and seem to move effortlessly from one movement to the next. If you have already made up your mind that you want to get fit, take a deep breath and know that we’ve all bee there beforeHere is a quick rundown of what to expect in your first class at Pittsburgh FIT!1. Meet at the Whiteboard. Community starts as you enter the door. At the whiteboard, the coach goes over the general set-up of the workouts. It is here that the Coach will learn your name and you can share any past injuries/modification needs you might have.2. Warm-Up.As a group, we do a warm-up for specific movements we will complete during the other two sections of class. This will get your blood pumping and muscles ready to work.3. Strength. This section, around 15-20 minutes long, will build your muscles and bones and focus on specific movements. This is where the coach can give you general and individualized tips on perfecting your form. This can include deadlifts, cleans, jerks, rope climbs, pull-ups…the list goes on and on.4. ConditioningThe workout where you get to speed things up a bit, adding some cardio, bodyweight movements, gymnastics, strength- the possibilities are endless. You will never get bored with all the different workouts you get to do!5. StretchTime to peel yourself off the floor and put the equipment away knowing you showed up and put in the work. The coach will tailor this section to give your muscles the stretch they deserve. Remember to hydrate!Lastly, look around and see that you, along with the others in class, pushed yourself and accomplished what many do not- you got yourself to your first class!!We can’t wait to see you there!
