I was very fortunate to find Pittsburgh FIT to help me get through some tough times. It led me not only to step back into owning my health, but it allowed me to leave a dead-end career that was slowly sucking away my soul.
I moved to Pittsburgh in 2016, leaving my family, my gym (the first I’d ever joined), and my friends behind. It took me until 2018 to find this amazing community and get myself back on track for who I wanted to be.
We’ve all had some tough times together through COVID lockdowns and masked bike sprints, and I still find myself struggling, but the struggles are different. I feel like I’m being challenged by the right things. By the right people. And I have the support that I need.
When times get tough, it’s easy to wallow in it, but I wanted to reflect on a (semi-random) list of things I’ve learned, and that I continue to learn from the amazing coaches, clients, and everyone else that I am lucky enough to get to work with!
This is my list. Take what you want from it, or make your own. The thing that I’d like you to take away from it is that there are hard days, when you feel you can’t do it, or just taking a single step seems impossible. But you can do it. I’ve seen you do it. Over and and over and over again. (At least if you work out with us!). Perfection be damned, just start!
All you have to do is try.
You’re busy, your family is busy, your friends are busy. Getting yourself to the gym is difficult but you’re already doing it. All you have to do is walk up 4 steps, open the door, and cross the threshold. We’re there waiting for you. Because we can’t do it without you either.
When you’re having a tough time, picture Geremy singing and dancing to music at 5:45AM only stopping to say hi to you. Or imagine walking in to Jodi’s class at 5PM and being dragged ahead by her raw energy and super fun dance moves.
If you’re anything like me, you’re already smiling thinking about how much fun a single hour of the day can be at Pittsburgh FIT.
We’re waiting for you
Anthony
