Deadlifts are the second most functional movement that we perform at Pittsburgh FIT. (The first is a Squat).
Why is it functional? You CONSTANTLY pick things up. And if you brace your core, and use the right muscles, you'll be able to avoid injury.
Stand tall.
Breathe out.
Squeeze your abs.
Breathe in.
Hinge.
Lift.
This sounds like a lot of thinking but it'll become second nature with only a little practice. Movements like deadbugs and bridges help prime you for perfect movement.
